The Civic Center is adjacent to Highway 101 in northern San Rafael with easy access to San Francisco and East Bay. Marin County is home to numerous hi-tech companies and although some firms have now relocated, San Rafael still has connections to the entertainment industry, particularly special effects for films and video game development. Marin County has one of the lowest unemployment rates in California and other top employers include the healthcare, financial and retail sectors. Just like California as a whole, tourism is important locally. Nature preserves and parks like the china Camp State Park attract visitors for scenic hiking and biking. The Golden Gate Bridge and John F McCarthy Memorial Bridge are a short drive away, putting the San Francisco Financial District, Richmond and the port of Oakland within reach. Restaurants, hotels and shops are just across the freeway.
